Newfoundland and Labrador

The Mission of the Newfoundland & Labrador Section is to explore, develop, and maintain climbing areas in Newfoundland as well as promote safe climbing and environmental awareness through communication, education, and community events.

Membership Rates

A $5 discount on the above rates will apply if a Section Membership is purchased at the same time as a National Membership.

Huts And Other Activities

Newfoundland hasn’t earned the nickname “The Rock” without good reason. All around the island are different rock formations, from sandstone and conglomerate sea cliffs on the Avalon Peninsula to bullet hard granite on the south coast and limestone cliffs and caves in the west. There is huge potential for climbing in Newfoundland but hardly any of it has been explored and developed.

Meetings and Socials

The Section holds Executive committee meetings once/month and an Annual General Meeting. The Section holds numerous events each year for people to try climbing outside, experience new aspects of climbing, or learn the skills needed to climb safely. The Section can also help members find partners or groups of people to climb with locally.

Trip Schedule

An Event Calendar is posted on the Section’s Facebook.

Guests who have immediate plans to travel to one of our huts in Jasper National Park please respect the wildfire closures. We will be in contact with guests affected by the closures shortly.

We are asking guests with future reservations at ACC huts in Jasper National Park to please be patient as the situation is evolving. We will update our guests on any future closures as we receive updates from the emergency response teams.
