Winter Ski Weeks Lottery is Open

Entries for the 2026/27 winter season close May 6, 2026 at 12:00 PM MST.

ACC Ski Weeks

A full week of backcountry skiing. Heli access. No crowds. No compromises.

Your ski week is a 7-night, helicopter-accessed stay at one of the Alpine Club of Canada’s most iconic huts: Kokanee Glacier Cabin or Fairy Meadow Hut. You and your group have the entire hut to yourselves, with world-class touring terrain right out the door.

Bookings are awarded through an annual lottery each spring. Entry is $25 per week, per person. This is a self-guided experience: you’re responsible for building your group, making route decisions, and managing your own safety in remote avalanche terrain.

Choose a Hut

Kokanee Glacier Cabin

Set at 2,000 m in Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park, the cabin offers moderate glaciated terrain, mellow bowls, and treed options for lower-visibility days. A full-time custodian handles hut operations and helps orient your group on arrival — making it a strong choice for mixed-ability groups or first-time ski-week trips.

Rates:

All rates are subject to 2% MRDT (Municipal and Regional District Tax). Includes return helicopter flights and exclusive 7-night hut use.

Fairy Meadow Hut

Bill Putnam Hut

Tucked deep in the Adamant Range of the northern Selkirks, Fairy Meadow offers some of the most committing ski terrain in the ACC hut network — big glaciated lines and objectives that reward strong navigation and glacier travel skills. Fully self-serve, with no custodian, it’s a serious week for experienced, self-reliant parties.

Rates:

Includes return helicopter flights and exclusive 7-night hut use. Active ACC membership required to book.

ACC Members may purchase up to two entries per ski week; non-members may enter only once per ski week.

How It Works

There are only a limited number of ski weeks each year – and demand is extremely high. So instead of first-come, first-served, bookings are awarded through a lottery system.

Common Questions

How does the lottery work?

Enter for the specific weeks you're interested in during the application period. After entries close, winners are drawn randomly for each week and notified by email. See "How it works" above for the full timeline.

Do I need to be an ACC member to enter?

No, non-members can submit one entry per ski week. ACC members can submit up to two entries per ski week. You must have an active ACC membership to book Fairy Meadow Hut; Kokanee Glacier Cabin is open to non-members as well.

What happens if I win?

You'll receive an offer by email. You have 48 hours to confirm receipt, and 7 days to pay the 50% non-refundable deposit. If you miss either deadline, your spot passes to the next entry on the list.

Are bookings refundable or transferable?

No. Ski week bookings are 100% non-refundable once processed, and the dates of your booking cannot be moved to a different week. Your group composition can change after booking (adding or swapping people), but the booking itself stays with the winner. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.

Any hidden fees?

No. The rates shown include return helicopter flights, exclusive 7-night hut use, and all taxes. The only additional charge is 2% MRDT for Kokanee. Excess baggage over 100 lb per person may incur additional helicopter charges.

What experience level is required?

You don't need to be elite, but you do need to be capable, prepared, and realistic about the terrain. You should be confident skiing or split-boarding in backcountry and avalanche terrain. These are remote, unmanaged environments where self-rescue is your responsibility.

Do I need avalanche training or a guide?

Avalanche training (AST 1 minimum, AST 2 recommended) is strongly recommended for every member of your party. You're welcome to hire a certified ACMG guide as part of your group if you'd like professional support, but it's not required.

Am I booking the whole hut?

You're booking the entire hut, not individual spots. You're responsible for building your own group of up to the hut's maximum capacity (15 at Kokanee, 20 at Fairy Meadow).

Is there a custodian at the hut?
Lorem ipsum

Kokanee Glacier Cabin has a full-time custodian on-site who will help orient you on arrival. The custodian has separate living and sleeping quarters but shares common spaces with your group during your stay.

Fairy Meadow Hut is self-serve, with no custodian. Your group is fully responsible for hut operations during the week.

What about weather delays on fly-in or fly-out day?
Lorem ipsum

Helicopter flights are weather-dependent. If your fly-in is delayed, your 7-night booking starts when you arrive at the hut. Delays do not extend your booking or generate refunds. Build flexibility into both ends of your trip, and budget extra days in your travel plans.
