Share your memories of the 2025 Hatteras GMC for a chance to win some great prizes from Mountain Hardwear.

The GMC 2025 Photo Contest is open to all participants of the 2025 General Mountaineering Camp, the GMC Independent Camp, and GMC Artist and Science Week.

Official Rules

1. SPONSOR, TERM AND ELIGIBILITY TO ENTER

1.1 The GMC 2025 Photo Contest offered is sponsored by The Alpine Club of Canada and Mountain Hardwear (the Sponsors) and is open to all participants of the 2025 General Mountaineering Camp, the GMC Independent Camps, and GMC Art & Science Week.

1.2 This contest will end at midnight on September 15, 2025 (MDT). Entries become the property of The Alpine Club of Canada.

1.3 No purchase is necessary or required to enter and to win, other than being a participant at the 2025 GMC.

2. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

2.1 Participants may submit up to 20 photos and provide a brief description (describing subject matter where & when was it taken, etc.). Digital photo requirements: a jpeg file with a resolution of not less than 300 dpi at a minimum size of 5 x 7 inches (1500 pixels x 2100 pixels, or greater). Jpeg file should not exceed 20 MB. Photos not meeting these requirements may be excluded from the contest.

2.2 Submissions should not include copyright-protected material by third parties unless permission has been granted.

2.3 Entries to the contest must be made by sending photos and descriptions via a cloud service such as Dropbox or Google Drive to [email protected] before the contest closing date of September 15, 2025.

3. JUDGING AND PRIZE AWARDING

3.1 By September 30, 2025, at The Alpine Club of Canada office in Canmore, three (3) winning photos will be selected from among all entries received by an internal panel of judges and awarded one (1) of three (3) prizes as follows:

1. MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR MINERAL KING™ 2 TENT

2. MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR LAMINA 15F/-9C SLEEPING BAG

3. MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR JMT 35L BACKPACK

Winning photos will appear on ACC social media feeds.

Judging will be based on criteria such as photo composition, originality and how well the submission reflects the spirit of the ACC and the GMC. Decisions of the judges are final.

3.2 The prizes are non-transferable, and must be accepted as awarded. The prizes are guaranteed to be awarded. By entering the contest, entrants agree to abide by these rules, and the decisions of The Alpine Club of Canada are final on all matters regarding this contest. The winners will be notified by email, shortly after they have been identified as winning entries. If a prize is unclaimed the next eligible person will qualify to win it.

3.2 Shipping is available for Canadian addresses only.

4. CONDITIONS

By entering, the entrants warrant and represent the following with respect to their submission: (a) entrant is the sole and exclusive owner of the submission and its copyright; (b) photo was taken by the entrant and (c) the submission will not infringe on any rights of any third parties.

By submitting an entry, entrants acknowledge and agree that all submissions will be added to the ACC’s photo library and as such may be reproduced and published (without notice or compensation, but with credit) by The Alpine Club of Canada, any electronic media and any printed material such as books, catalogues published by the ACC and affiliates, as well that an agreement has been secured from a third party copyright holder of the submission.

Submissions may be cut, reformatted, rearranged, combined with other materials and/or otherwise modified. Participation in the contest and acceptance of prize constitute the winner’s permission (or that of the copyright holder) for The Alpine Club of Canada to use their names, photographs, biographical information, and/or any statements made by each winner regarding the contest without notice or additional compensation.

The Alpine Club of Canada reserves the right to refuse submissions deemed inappropriate or offensive in any way.

Avalanche and weather conditions aligned perfectly for the first annual ACC Saskatchewan Section Ski and Board Fest from March 28 to April 1. Our team was made up of nine section members, six of us made the long drive from Saskatoon, and met up with three who came from Calgary. The trip was based out of the Lake Louise Alpine Centre hostel, and we toured different locations in the area for four days. In total, we climbed over 3,500 metres and travelled almost 50 kilometres on our skis and split boards.
