Please be aware that the route to the Bugaboo (Conrad Kain) Hut was significantly damaged in 2025. Conditions will be more challenging than usual. Creek crossings are a particular concern as the 2025 flood has destabilized the creek bed and re-routed around a key bridge. A new bridge is planned but cannot be installed until after the snow melts and the creek stabilizes. Hikers should expect to ford the creek below the hut, and on the trail between the hut and Applebee Campground. Fording the creek should not be taken lightly.
The ACC takes hiker safety very seriously. If we cannot install a bridge and the creek fording and general travel cannot be managed safely, we will adjust or suspend operations. If operations are suspended, reservations will be cancelled and refunded.
The ACC will provide updates as the situation evolves.
